TSC: I want to take this moment to introduce all of you to eNeas. He is currently working on a style guide for short men and he will be a regular contributor at The Social Complex. We are thinking about doing a section devoted specifically to fashion tips for proud short men. That is, fashion tips for short men who want to look better - not taller. Here is the first post from eNeas. Enjoy, and we will keep you updated.
You can find fashion advice anywhere. Some of it is actually pretty good. But they all share the same problem: They’re all tricks intended to make you look taller. This is what bothers me.
The whole point of being stylish is to compliment your attributes and to make use of them, not to try and trick others into thinking you are something you are not. If we try to make ourselves look taller we are just contributing to the long standing social stigma. We shouldn’t be ashamed of what we are, quite the opposite. I invite fellow short men to disregard height as a style requirement, the important thing is the fit, not the size.
